If you are using short extensions, the rod can attach to the cooler clamp and simply do its thing. If you want a taller setup, you can set the rod on a flat surface and guide it through the cooler clamp. Out on grass? This includes a small stake foot to anchor the rod in grass and other natural surfaces.
